Our Mascots
Besides the dogs there are also other animals inside the house. 3 cats, 2 rats and an aquarium. This site will shortly introduce the mammals. Aquarium is right now under construction, so it's not interesting in any way. All the animals this page are females, we have a huge bitch-overpower at our house.

Lähdepohjan Fille de Four

A queen of the hous. When Firi was younger, she was pissed off about 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, but now she has settled down a little. She loves to come to purr to your lap, have a nap at the sofa or sometimes next to one of the dogs. She will also "attack" our guest right after dogs have done their jobs of wagging tails and bein all happy. Firi will boldly just climb to the lap to get some fondling.
Firi was just about two weeks old when I found her from the forest, from a rusty thing, that might have been an oven. Few days she was fed at home, until we found her a good mother from the near animal-shelter. There Firi grew for a couple of weeks until she came back home.
Tiiti
20.7.2006

Tiiti is lovely, a bit hermit-like longhaired cat. She loves to lay down on top of the TV, at the dinner-table or watch the aquarium. She is a bit shy towards strangers, and never has enjoyed much human-company either. She thinks it's sometimes nice to get fondling, but that's about it. Even though she is very friendly and flexible towards everyone. When the cats emerge to eat some food, she is always the last one to pick up a cup to eat.
Tiiti has been picked up from a certain homestead, where a beautiful, grey-striped homecat had got some kittens with some handsome, white, long-haired tomcat. There were two kittens left, and I couldn't choose between those two, so I just took both of them with me.
Vavaenna
20.7.2006

Vavaenna is social, but a bit shy cat. She loves to run riot around the house at nights. Days she pass on sleeping preferably on the couch, sometimes at the table. Vav has been the most interested about rats, and at the beginning she stalked them a bit and almost tried to attack them. Now Vaala is sure to keep her away of her rats, so she has to just watch them further away. Towards strangers Vavaenna is very shy. When someone comes, she will most likely hide from all the hussle. So if your visit here is short, you might not see Vavaenna at all. When Vav was little, she hissed to all the new people, but nowadays she just avoids them. But people Vavaenna know, will have a lap-friend of her.
Vav is Tiiti's sister, and so gotten from same place with same story as Tiiti.

Smooth-coated fancy rat
Color: silver-black
Mother: Eben Eye (s-black)
Father: Sanders Anatoli (s-russianblue)
Masha is Vaala's favourite rat. These black girls have their own things and plays, and it does not seem to trouble either one of them that other is many times bigger than other. Masha likes to e.g. observe Vaala's fur, dace, ears and paws, and Vaala lies still during these investigations. Sometimes Masha thinks passing-by-Vaala as a great stepstone to the place where this little rat wants to go. Vaala also protectes her rats, and won't let any cat or even Freia go near them without emerging to scene to growl. Masha and Milia are Vaala's rats, and she takes a good care of them.
Masha is a bit less social than her sister Milia, but she also likes to crawl under your shirt, make food with me and, of course, go and steal the food from my plate. When I open the cage's door, Masha comes from downstairs to sniff and lick my hands. From the very beginning she also has had longer exploring-journeys than her sister.

Smooth-coated fancy rat
Color: russian blue
Mother: Eben Eye (s-black)
Father: Sanders Anatoli (s-russianblue)
I dreamed about rats for a long time, and the moment I saw blue rats in the pictures, I was fascinated completely. So one of my first rats is this russianblue cuteness. Milia is lively, curious piece of soap. She loves to steal food from my plate, go behind the computer amongst the wires (and it's absolutely off-limits to rats) and it even has had time to gnaw a bit of floor-list (now they are covered in ducttape and there is some allowable things to eat behind the cage). Sometimes Milia might even want to tear your clothes off, if she likes the fabrik and thinks it would be a nice material to put to her nest.
Milia does not care about dogs much. Sometimes goes to bite a bit of their nose or pull their ears. Vaala doesn't mind that, just pulls back a little, and Freia never even gets to be so close to the rats.
Milia likes especially warm places, so she is happy to squeeze herself inside your shirt. She also loves to decorate her nest with newspapers and wc-paper. A First-class cushion to her sleeping-cave.

rex-coated fancy rat
Color: black eyed siamese
Mother: Junko (rex black eyed siamese seal point)
Father: ?
Raastin came here at April, just a bit under four months after Masha and Milia. Raastin also came from Riihimäki, but she has a different breeder than Masha and Milia. Her mother got children accidentally and so no one knows who her father is.
Raastin is cute, social ratchild. She is extremely kind, but sometimes a bit shy. Her jumping skills are unbelievable. Before Raastin came, I couldn't imagine that a rat can jump so far and hight. And I don't lie when I say she can jump almost two meters just like that. Sometimes Raastin comes to have a nap behind my computer screen. She likes to hang there for hours, not doing anything particular. Also she has never even done anything harmful. Things have been unbroken, except for the things in their cage.
Raastin is a bit afraid of cats, but the dogs are alright. She doesn't care them much, sometimes goes to smell their nose on her journey. Also the dogs think this is okay, they don't go to Raastin if she doesn't want.

rex-coated fancy rat
Color: agouti
Mother: Brock's Pep-pur-mint
Father: FIN D CH Brock's Gimme Ya Wallet
Vixen is from Brock's-rattery, Espoo, where I had earlier dreamt of getting an agouti-coloured ratcub. So I didn't wait for long when I found out that there would be agouti litter there. There came one rex-coated agouti for me, and so Vixen was fetched in the middle of April. She would also keep company to our other new little-one, Raastin.
Vixen is brave, but also a bit shy. She thinks new situations are quite ok, and she won't be frightened about everything, but be quite calm instead. She also sometimes has the courage to go and see the new things herself. Sometimes she comes to sit on my shoulder thinking if she can come to my computer table or not. Vixen is not afraid of our dogs and cats, but she doesn't like them much either. Sometimes she goes to see what kind of things are hanging about, but mostly she doesn't notice them at all.
Vixen and Raastin are very good friends and they like to be together. Especially new situations make them go together and trust each other (and what would be better moment to take pictures of these two).
